Scope and Contents The book chiefly contains records of the tutors' transactions relating to the Bogie coal mines and salt pans, and to the debts of the estate; throughout them is scattered information concerning the education of Sir James Wemyss (folio 16). The papers appear to have belonged to Lord Swinton, and may be the collection of the Reverend Samuel Semple, Swinton’s maternal grandfather (cf. FES i, 172).
